The Chicago Sky are flipping the script—and fast. After weeks of struggle, the team broke their losing streak on Sunday with a 78–66 win over the Connecticut Sun in a Commissioner’s Cup clash. And leading the charge? Two rookies rewriting what it means to arrive.

Angel Reese notched her first WNBA triple-double, while Hailey Van Lith delivered one of her strongest performances of the season off the bench. Together, they didn’t just help the Sky win—they made sure the league took notice.

Angel Reese Makes WNBA History

With 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists, Angel Reese became one of the youngest players ever to record a triple-double in the WNBA. She also added 3 steals and 2 blocks—doing a bit of everything.

After the game, Reese told reporters:

“I just want to be unstoppable […] I want to get to a point where it’s hard to guard because they have to guard the pass, they have to guard the shot…”

This wasn’t just stat-padding. It was leadership in motion. Reese has consistently led the league in rebounding this season—but Sunday proved she’s just getting started.

Hailey Van Lith Finds Her Rhythm

Van Lith, drafted 11th overall, came off the bench and dropped 16 points in 22 minutes. She was efficient, energized, and unafraid to take over.

Reflecting on her breakout moment, Van Lith said:

“Sometimes you just have that feeling. I’ve been in a good flow state this week. I figured if I came out and played well, [coach Tyler Marsh] might give me some more minutes.”

Her performance was exactly what the Sky needed—especially as the team fills gaps left by injured veterans like Courtney Vandersloot.

The Sky’s bench outscored Connecticut’s 36–2, and an 8–2 run to open the fourth quarter sealed the win. After starting the season 2–7, this game felt like a turning point.
