This Friday, July 11, Madison Square Garden won’t just be hosting a fight — it’ll be making history.
For the first time ever, an all-women’s boxing card will take over one of the world’s most iconic arenas. At the center of it all: a final, legacy-defining clash between two of the sport’s greatest champions — Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. Broadcast live on Netflix, the event marks a watershed moment not just for boxing, but for women’s sports everywhere.
This will be the third time Taylor and Serrano face off. Their first meeting in 2022 shattered records and redefined what was possible for women in the ring. The rematch in 2024 delivered a tactical masterclass, with Taylor edging out another razor-close decision. Now, the trilogy promises to settle the score — and elevate the stakes once more.
“I want to thank everyone at Matchroom, MVP and Netflix for getting the trilogy over the line and I can’t wait to headline at MSG again in July,” Taylor said in the official announcement. “I’m 2 and 0 against Amanda but it’s obviously a very special rivalry that delivers every time we step in the ring so I think it’s only right that we have the trilogy.”

For Serrano, this fight isn’t just about revenge — it’s about representation. She had pushed hard for this to be a 12-round, 3-minute format, equal to the men’s title fights. But when Taylor and her camp opted for the traditional 10 rounds of two minutes each, Serrano made her frustration known.
“I’m disappointed that Katie Taylor did not keep her word and make the trilogy 12 three-minute rounds, equal to the men… But make no mistake, every time we share the ring, it is war, and I know Friday, July 11, will be the greatest yet because I will finally get the official W I deserve,” she said.
Serrano has spoken in the past about what this rivalry has meant to her, not just as a boxer, but as a role model. “A few years ago after my 1st fight with Katie there was a beautiful picture sent to me of a few little girls in front of the Television watching me work,” she recently wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I saw myself in them.”
Now, both women are fighting not just for titles but for the future of the sport. And they won’t be doing it alone.
The undercard is one of the most talent-stacked in recent memory. The co-main event features Alycia Baumgardner defending her undisputed super-featherweight titles against Spain’s Jennifer Miranda. Savannah Marshall will take on Shadasia Green in a super-middleweight unification bout, while rising star Ellie Scotney faces Yamileth Mercado for the super-bantamweight crown. In total, six world titles will be on the line — more than any women’s card in the four-belt era.
It’s a lineup that proves women’s boxing isn’t playing catch-up anymore it’s leading the charge.
And with Netflix broadcasting the event to a global audience, fans across the world can tune in with no pay-per-view fees, just a subscription and a screen. It’s another leap forward for visibility and access, and a major moment for the streaming giant’s growing investment in live sports.
In a sport long dominated by men’s names and faces, Taylor vs. Serrano III is a bold, brilliant correction — and a reminder that the most compelling stories in boxing right now are being written by women.
