After four straight losses and a record that’s slid to 1–9, the Dallas Wings are finally catching a break—and her name is Paige Bueckers.
On Tuesday, Wings head coach Chris Koclanes confirmed that the rookie phenom has cleared concussion protocol and will return without any minutes restrictions for Wednesday’s matchup against the Phoenix Mercury.
It’s a much-needed boost for a team that hasn’t won a game since May 29—the last time Bueckers was on the court.
“She’s been working behind the scenes,” Koclanes said, alluding to the guard’s quiet grind while sidelined. Now, she’s ready to go full throttle.
Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, was already proving her dominance before her brief absence. She’s been averaging:
- 14.7 points
- 4.7 rebounds
- 6.7 assists
- 2 steals
- 1 block per game
That’s second only to Arike Ogunbowale’s 16.3 points per game on the team—but it’s her presence as a playmaker and stabilizer that might make the biggest difference in the Wings’ season going forward.
The question now: Can Paige be the spark Dallas needs to turn the ship around?
